Jake “Maz” Maslin – Owner/Head Coach

I have spent most of my life as a competitive athlete and coach. Soon after graduating from Glencoe H.S. in 1999, as a multi sport athlete and All American Lacrosse player I quickly took on coaching local youth, high school and college Lacrosse teams including Oregon State in 2013. During this time and shortly after 9/11 I enlisted in the Military Special Forces. After my enlistment I needed something to fuel my passion for fitness and coaching and in 2010 I found CrossFit. I am extremely excited to continually train others to improve their health and fitness. If I’m not at the gym training or coaching, I’m usually coaching or playing Lacrosse or flying helicopters privately, commercially or instructing.

Rudy Esteban – Coach

I joined CrossFit Code Red in 2010 as a means to improve my fitness. It wasn’t long until I fell in love with the community at CrossFit Code Red, so I decided to get my coaching certification in 2012. I love seeing athletes achieve their personal goals, break down walls and barriers, and achieve what they thought to be impossible. Just to see the smile and excitement coming from an athlete’s face is pure enjoyment for me. I am very lucky to work with such a great group of people and to be a part of their lives. Currently I work at Intel but spend any time I have off coaching the athletes at CrossFit Code Red. I also enjoy traveling, cooking and spending quality time with my wife and kids.

Evan Fraisse – Coach

I graduated from Oregon State University with my BS and MS in mechanical engineering in 2006. I played Track and Field and earned my 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I started CrossFit in 2011 because of the consistent results it provided and the positiveness of other athletes who surrounded and supported me with the same goals for health and fitness. It wasn’t long until I decided to start coaching other athletes who wanted those same consistent results. My parents were both teachers, so helping and encouraging others is deeply ingrained within me. Nothing makes me happier than seeing an enthusiastic class show up and get after it. When I am not at the gym coaching I am playing the Saxophone.

Rowena “Row” Manabat – Coach

Born in Alaska, I later moved to Oregon where I attended Pacific University for my bachelor’s degree in Science. As a collegiate swimmer for Pacific University I was itching to get back into the world of competition so I decided to try CrossFit in late 2012. In just 6 short months I was competing in my first CrossFit competition. I was so inspired by the support of my coaches, community, and fellow competing athletes that I wanted to share this with others so I decided to get my CrossFit Trainer certification in 2013. Coaching others to experience that same feeling is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I am excited to be part of the amazing community of coaches and athletes at CrossFit Code Red and can’t wait to help them achieve their goals as well.

Joseph “Jo” Butterfield – Coach

I began CrossFit in 2012 as a means to improve my physical fitness in preparation for military enlistment. I quickly fell in love with the intensity of the workouts and the dedication of the community to their health and to each other. CrossFit has helped me reach many goals and set others I never imagined I could achieve. Now I hope to share my passion using CrossFit as a means to improve the health and fitness of others. I have never felt so at home with such a diverse group of people. The hardest part of being away from the box is not seeing the smiling, encouraging faces of friends and fellow competitors. If I am not at the gym coaching or training, I am usually using my fitness to explore the outdoors.

Luis Mota – Coach

I’ve been a firefighter for 15 years, 7 of those professionally at Hillsboro Fire & Rescue.  I started CrossFit in 2012 when my work started a Peer Fitness Trainer Program sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters after data showed many line of duty deaths were caused by poor health and lack of physical fitness. I decided to become a certified trainer in 2014 to help others achieve not only a healthier lifestyle but also an tougher state of mind. Helping others achieve something they thought impossible is something I’ve found very rewarding. I can honestly say I came for the CrossFit but stayed for the community. Outside of the box you can find me training for the next firefighter competition or hanging out with my beautiful girls.

Chuck Dodsworth – Coach

I have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas, Austin. Worked for Procter & Gamble for 5 years on the Pringles brand and then became an FBI Special Agent in 2002 as well as an FBI SWAT Operator. I played competitive tennis in high school and my hobbies are golf and music. I started Crossfit in 2004 because it really is the best workout program available today. The camaraderie and “family” nature of the gym makes it a second home for the athletes. I enjoy working with people who have the drive and initiative to set and achieve goals that will surely change their lifestyle for the better. I am excited to be part of the CrossFit Code Red coaching team so I can do just that.

During my time in the Army I was introduced to CrossFit in 2010 as a means of training. As a former collegiate soccer player I was immediately hooked to the camaraderie and support of my fellow athletes and later attended the CrossFit trainers course for my certificate as part of 3rd Infantry Divisions efforts to incorporate CrossFit into the Army’s physical conditioning. Currently I serve in the National Guard’s 2-218 FA Battalion in Portland and work as a software engineer at Intel. I am extremely passionate about coaching others and I’m excited to be part of the amazing community here at CrossFit Code Red. If you don’t see me at the gym I am usually training with my battalion or spending quality time with my beautiful wife and child.
